Waterloo is a small city located in southern Minnesota, in the United States. It is located in the counties of Steele and Rice, and has a population of approximately 240 residents. The city is situated along the Zumbro River, and is primarily an agricultural community. The town was established in the 1850s, and was named for the Battle of Waterloo in which the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon in 1815. Some notable attractions in Waterloo include Riverside Park, which offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and boat launches, and the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, which provides opportunities for biking, hiking, and birdwatching. The town is also home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, gas station, post office, and library.
